Biography

Mary Jane Hanson, age 92, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Manor Court.

Mary Jane was born on February 8, 1917 in Peoria, Illinois to Lloyd and Nancy (Anderson) Throckmorton. She married Raymond R. Hanson on May 9, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1969.

Mary Jane is survived by two sons, Warren F. (Donna) Hanson of Nashville, Tennessee and John R. (Candace) Hanson of San Jose, California; two daughters, Erna M. (James) Street of Peoria, Illinois and Nancy K. Koehler of Bloomington, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Hanson of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Dana B. (Erma) Throckmorton of East Peoria, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger E. Hanson; one sister, L. Enid Heinrich; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Mary Jane was a homemaker in her own home. She was the Valedictorian of her class at Kingman High School in Peoria. Mary Jane was a member of the Madison Avenue United Methodist Church in Peoria, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the Nile. She also enjoyed sewing.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11am at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61604. Rev. Bill Allen will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
