Biography

Virginia S. Branham, age 90, of Peoria passed away at 3:17pm on Monday, March 1, 2010 in Chillicothe at the home of her daughter with whom she had been residing.

Virginia was born on October 9, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Priscilla (Kwasniewski) Fangrat. She graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, and on February 14, 1943, she married William H. Hart, M.D. She worked as an R.N. for several years in Chicago before they moved to Peoria to raise their family. They raised five children and in 1970, adopted two more children from Vietnam. After their family was grown, she resumed her career as a private duty nurse. She later married Robert Branham on December 6, 1986. Virginia was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she was an active participant in the Bible study group taught by Ruby Thompson.

Virginia is survived by her children; Ginny (Jerry) Halverson of Chillicothe, Diane (Dick) Hofer of Princeville, Debbie (Tom) Mead of Peoria, Patty (Frank) Howell of Argyle, Texas, Kim (Mark) Barrick of Peoria, and Tim (Chris) Hart of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; one sister, Loretta; one brother, Raymond; one son, William Hart; and one grandson, Jordan Barrick.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5pm to 7pm at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home in Peoria. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10am at Grace Presbyterian Church. Reverend Douglas Lightly will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Peoria Rescue Ministries or Southside Mission.

Our family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Drs. Robert Adams and Apichart Radee for their excellent care and compassion shown to our Mother during her lengthy illness.
