Biography

Gerald R. Bowen, age 93, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at John C. Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria.

Gerald was born on December 25, 1916 in Peoria, Illinois to Harry and Ella (Caughey) Bowen. He married Arlene F. Stewart on June 30, 1940 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2009.

Gerald is survived by one son, Stephen S. (Joan L.) Bowen of Glencoe, Illinois; two grandchildren, David N. (Ellie Sato) Bowen of Evanston, Illinois and Claire H. Bowen of San Francisco, California; and one great-grandchild, Siena Etsuko Sato Bowen of Evanston, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one daughter, Jill Bowen.

Gerald worked for more than 40 years at the Keystone Steel and Wire Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Peoria and he loved to play golf and to travel.
